There are a lot of opportunities near and far for artists, from short term studios in Heritage listed buildings to weeks away Europe… This is your chance to get the low down on what is out there, and what you need to do to be ready to apply.
We have invited Executive Director of Res Artis, Eliza Dawson, over to Burrinja to answer all your burning questions.
Eliza Dawson – Executive Director – is the inaugural Executive Director of Res Artis focused on fundraising, public profile and strategy for the organisation. Eliza served on the Res Artis Board of Directors from 2012 to 2016. Prior, Eliza worked as Arts Residencies Manager at Asialink. Eliza has worked at a range of local and international institutions and organisations including Christie’s auction house in London, The Ian Potter Museum of Art & Artbank. Eliza holds a MA Art Curatorship and BA Creative Arts, both from the University of Melbourne.
Jamieson Pearce – Membership Coordinator – has a background in filmmaking and his short films have played at over 50 festivals around the world. In 2022/23 he undertook a writing residency at the Cité Internationale Des Arts in Paris, supported by I’Institut Français. This experience confirmed his passion for art residencies, for their potential to nourish the development of artists and their communities.
Res Artis: Worldwide Network of Arts Residencies is a 30 year old network of arts residency operators from around the globe. Operating from our international office in Australia, our network comprises more than 650+ vetted Members in over 80 countries. We are the worldwide professional body for the field, ensuring sustainability and growth by providing capacity building tools for our Members through face-to-face meetings and digital platforms. We support and connect residencies, engage and advocate the importance of residencies in today’s society, and provide recommendations towards cultural mobility research and policy.
The aerie professional development program will provide monthly workshops for artists. These workshops will aim to develop artists’ strategic skills in arts business, marketing and more.
There are limited places in each workshop.
