Join Burrinja curator JD Mittman in this 60 minute workshop in tips, tricks and what not to do when preparing for an exhibition.

JD has installed, curated and toured a total of over 200 exhibitions big and small. He knows a thing or two about it. He is Burrinja’s curator and collections manager, and he is generously offering his time on a Sunday afternoon to share some insights of his long career. You should attend. It will be fun.

Burrinja is a vibrant community cultural centre in the Dandenong Ranges with a clear, creative and community-based vision for the region: Building Community through Arts.

Burrinja is a cultural hub for the Dandenong Ranges.  Working to provide outcomes that contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the region, Burrinja enables the development of new, experiential and distinctive arts practice, whilst providing continued support for existing art forms in the Hills.

JD Mittman

JD Mittmann is Burrinja’s Curator and Manager of Collections, and as such develops and delivers the annual exhibition program and manages both Yarra Ranges Council’s McLeod Gift Collection and Burrinja’s own collection of art.

He took up the position as Visual Arts Manager in 2011. He is an award-winning arts professional with seventeen years’ experience in running commercial and community galleries, producing touring exhibitions and arts festivals. He has also worked as freelance radio journalist, digital producer and filmmaker.

He holds a MA (TU Berlin, 1996) and post-graduate qualifications in film-making and Indigenous Arts Management (VCA, 1999 and 2009).

The aerie professional development program will provide monthly workshops for artists. These workshops will aim to develop artists’ strategic skills in arts business, marketing and more.

There are limited places in each workshop.
