Creative Project Planning and the Funding Landscape
Turning a creative idea into reality can take some knowledge, practice and expert guidance. The aerie, in partnership with City of Greater Dandenong, present Creative Project Planning and the Funding Landscape – a workshop to give you tools and advice to help realise your creative idea.
No matter what your creative idea might be, knowing where to find funding and how to write an effective project plan will help you achieve your project goals.

- Help you map out your project budget.
- Realise your creative dreams.
This workshop is part of City of Greater Dandenong’s creative RISE initiative. Creative RISE is a series of programs to support our creative community to network, build skills, and to connect and grow their creative practice.
What are participants are required to bring?
Writing material and a creative project idea.
Where is it held?
This special professional development program will be held at Walker Street Gallery, Dandenong.
Is food provided?
Morning tea and lunch provided.
The Experts
Steven Richardson (Creative Australia)
Steven Richardson is the State Manager for Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory for Creative Australia (formerly Creative Partnerships Australia). Steven brings many years of significant fundraising experience, with a background spanning a variety of artistic, producing, and programming roles – including as a director, curator and producer. Steven’s varied experience allows for a holistic view of fundraising. As Artistic Associate for Melbourne Festivals, and founding Artistic Director of Arts House, he raised or assisted in raising significant financial investment. Steven has served on a number of advisory boards, including five years as Deputy Chair of the Dance Board for the Australia Council for the Arts, Vic Health Arts Advisory and others.
Andrew Duong (Connection Arts Space)
Andrew Duong is a south-east artist living on Wurundjeri land. He has been an active member of Connection Arts Space (CAS) since it started in 2015. He is passionate about creating arts opportunities in the south-east and is the Grants Writing Officer for CAS. CAS is a community-focused arts organisation based in the City of Greater Dandenong. Since 2015, CAS has supported artists, particularly of asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds, to share their stories through exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative projects.
Selene Bateman (Chief Executive Officer Auspicious Arts Projects)
Selene Bateman, from Auspicious Arts, is a highly regarded arts administrator, producer and project manager who has worked in the creative sector for nearly 20 years. Auspicious Arts Projects is a not-for-profit creative community management organisation. They provide independent artists with a secure and accessible framework to assist them with creative developments and producing work. They’ve worked with projects across the complete independent arts spectrum, as well as with a range of arts organisations and local councils to provide administrative and financial support.
The aerie professional development program will provide monthly workshops for artists. These workshops will aim to develop artists’ strategic skills in arts business, marketing and more.
