Grant writing 101
Where to start when you want to apply for arts project funding
Join Burrinja Cultural Development Producer Toni Main as she takes you through an indepth look into the process of grant writing for your arts project. This is aimed at artist that are beginners to the funding world, but those familiar with the proces may learn a trick or two.

This two hour workshop will be an introduction to grant writing for arts projects. We will look at the following:

  • What language to use when writing a grant
  • What are funders looking for in your application
  • How to write a budget
  • Finding the right funding body for your project

 

Toni has over 20 years of grant writing experience with a high success rate. She has also sat on a variety of selection panels, and can provide insight into the process.

Burrinja

Burrinja is a vibrant community cultural centre in the Dandenong Ranges with a clear, creative and community-based vision for the region: Building Community through Arts.

Burrinja is a cultural hub for the Dandenong Ranges.  Working to provide outcomes that contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the region, Burrinja enables the development of new, experiential and distinctive arts practice, whilst providing continued support for existing art forms in the Hills.

Toni Main

Toni is currently the Cultural Development Producer at Burrinja. She brings with her over 20 years experience working in the creative sector in numerous roles including artistic director, mentor, community cultural development officer, festival director, producer, workshop facilitator, event manager, and university lecturer.

Her background is in theatre and performance, however, she has been working in the visual arts for the last five years.

The aerie professional development program will provide monthly workshops for artists. These workshops will aim to develop artists’ strategic skills in arts business, marketing and more.

There are limited places in each workshop.
